Hunter Velasquez is a dedicated public servant with deep roots in Costilla County with over four generations and counting and a steadfast commitment to the safety and well-being of its residents. Previously serving as a Sergeant with the Costilla County Sheriff’s Office, Hunter brings experience of hands-on law enforcement experience, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of rural community needs.

Beyond the badge, Hunter is a lifelong volunteer—actively serving as a firefighter, mentoring youth through community sports programs, and engaging in community policing initiatives that foster trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the people they serve.

Known for his passion both on and off duty, Hunter is also an avid amateur photographer, motorcycle enthusiast, and self-proclaimed nerd who values lifelong learning. A skilled outdoorsman and hunter, he embraces the Colorado lifestyle while remaining grounded in the principles of integrity, service, and accountability.
